If The Ring Could Talk

May I try On Your Engagement Ring?

If The Ring Could Talk #1

May I try on your engagement ring?

Have you ever thought of asking someone that question or better yet have YOU asked that question?   If you are like me, then I am sure you have glared at someone’s engagement ring once or twice, perhaps every time you see one.  If that does not hold true for you, it is my confession but do not judge me!  During my single days, I often found myself unconsciously staring at an engagement or wedding ring perfectly fitted to the woman’s hand in front of me.  My glare was deeper than the 4Cs of the diamond (cut, color, clarity, and carat).  I was genuinely curious to know about the couple:

How did he propose?

Who is he?

Who is she?

What are they like?

Even more daring…. Why her and not me?

The journey begins

My curiosity often left me wondering, “If her ring could talk, what would it say?”  Some thirteen years later and as a married woman, I am still curious.

As a professional wedding planner, I am most intrigued and centered on the couples I have the honor to work with.  I love to hear of their journey, which helps me create a unique style and approach that is reflective of their personalities through my planning and design.  Beyond the glitz and glam, underneath the wedding gowns and tuxedos are two people who are exchanging vows to spend the rest of their life together and bridging families.

Social media is the obvious platform for show and tell, whether true or false. The wide range of audience drawn by what is depicted with great intentions for social engagement. If you wish to escape to La La land or transport to a fairy tale, then head to IG for beautiful wedding pictures that only tell half the story.  Don’t get me wrong, I love all things wedding, especially witnessing two people become one and seeing the celebration well-orchestrated by your wedding planner and your all-star wedding vendors, but after the 6 hour event is over, life begins. The real stories unfold and the real beauty of marriage is discovered. For better or worse.  Unfortunately, your amazing wedding photographer does not capture these raw and beautiful images.

Let us be honest, there are pictures we do not ever want to be seen, but I am sure you have stories to share. The journey from engaged to married and unfortunately or fortunately at times, separation or divorced, offers valuable life lessons we can impart on others. Stories of disappointments, disagreements, challenges or conflicts that have tested our faith or commitment. In addition, yes, stories of your happiness and embracing your profound joy! At times, we feel guilty for being happy.  How can you walk in your truth while helping others navigate through their personal journey with inspiration that inspires knowledge and truth? We have the ability to offer the lens for others to see the untold stories of marriage in all facets and multilayers of life.  This is my story. This is your story. This is our stories....
